AT Update

From: rscarpen (RiskyNil@pocketmail.com) | Date: 2003-09-26 03:12:26 UTC
Just thought I'd let everyone know--I have finished the Appalachian
Trail! Yesterday afternoon, September 24th, I stood at the top of
Katahdin, pulled out Amanda's cell phone, held it up to my ear, and
said, "Can you hear me now?" Even got a picture to prove it... ;o)

Anyhow, I'm now visiting with my cousin in the Boston area for the
next week or so and might have a day or two available if anyone from
this area wants to meet up with me. I'm not sure what days I'll be
available, but I'm sure something can be worked out.

And I'm also looking into hiding a REALLY cool letterbox out here,
unlike the relatively crappy ones I've been hiding on the Appalachian
Trail where the stamps were pre-carved and excessively small since
I'd have to carry it on my back and space and weight were limited. I
can't let you all think those ones I've left on the AT are the best I
can do, because you'd all shoot me if you thought that. =)

Carpe diem!

-- Ryan

PS. Why yes, I *have* hiked the entire Appalachian Trail. =)

Oh, one other thing--I haven't had the Internet access necessary to
create any of my Great Adventures for quite a while now, but not to
fear, I shall be recontinuing them in the near future now that I'm
off the trail! I'll let you know when they're available....
Pictures, as well. =)

Farewell!

Well done, Ryan!

How long will you be in the area? I'm sure there are folks who would like to
get together with you.

If you still are in the Boston area next week, you should definitely consider
coming to the Cape Cod gathering next Saturday, Oct 4, so that we may all
fawn over you and hear tales of the trail. If not, have a great trip back!

Oh, if you knew how eagerly we're awaiting these updates! We're parched raw
from our weeks without them. Have hardly had anything of substance to talk
about. . .

Congratulations on being able to tag "Thru-hiker" to your identity. We're in
awe. . .
